1. Pumpkins. Everything pumpkins. All the pumpkins.
What says he popped the question like posing in a pumpkin patch? Cinderella chose the best vegetable (they’re vegetables right?) to be her getaway carriage and it still gives us all the feels today. In all seriousness, pumpkins are a great subtle (usually free!) prop that will give your session that little bit of theming to tie it all together. Also how cute would a pumpkin painting or carving engagement session be to show your personalities as a couple? The options are endless and we love when our clients have fun with their session and make it unique to them!

2. Perfect lighting!
If you’ve heard of the “golden hour” of photography, let us tell you that it’s favorite time of the year is the fall. It starts getting darker a little sooner and the sunset-twilight lighting will make you look beautiful and glowing! As we always say, great lighting = great photos!

3. Wide range of outfit options
Depending on when in the fall you decide to take your photos your outfit can range from shorts and tank tops to jeans, boots and scarves to everything in between! Coordinating your outfits is so easy in the fall because the darker, muted colors will compliment each other and photograph beautifully. Pair a dark flannel on him and a cream cozy sweater on you and the results will be absolutely swoon-worthy! 4. Leaves and trees
In the fall all of nature dresses up just for your engagement session! The beautiful autumn colors of the leaves and trees create a beautiful backdrop for any photo and offer built-in (free again!) photo props. Playing in the leaves or sharing a kiss under a tree is another great way to make your photos special. We love the opportunity to get away in nature with our clients for their session.

5. Weather
Sign us up for no sweaty pictures but not being freezing cold either! Fall gives you the perfect weather to look comfortable and natural in your photos. Not to mention there’s less chance of rain in the fall! Plus with our packages we always offer hair and makeup services, and fall is a great time to make sure your look stays flawless throughout your session.

6. Save the dates
Typically save-the-dates should be sent out 6-8 months before your wedding date. That means fall is the perfect time to take engagement photos and use them on your save-the-dates for spring and summer weddings!
